Undefeated Lacrosse Team Set to Take on Oak Hall in Play-offs

The Gulf Breeze High School boys lacrosse team received a stroke of luck when their slated first-round opponent was forced to forfeit after reported issues of violations. The details of the nature of (Tallahassee) Chiles' FHSAA violations are unknown but in any case, the benefactor of the situation was undoubtedly Gulf Breeze. The undefeated Dolphins were the favorite on paper, but Chiles was loaded with Division I talent and would have proven a very challenging opponent for the opening round. Whether or not the Dolphins will have suffered from not having played a game in over a week- and certainly not having been tested against a quality opponent- remains to be answered. Gulf Breeze will host an Oak Hall (Gainesville area) team that beat Jacksonville Bolles in the first round. Oak Hall is a traditional lacrosse powerhouse in Florida, with both its girls and boys teams dominating in recent years. There is no doubt that Tuesday's second round match-up will reveal more than it creates about both of these two teams. Both teams can score at will, both have depth and talent to spare, and both like to play at a very fast tempo. All of these variables should make for a very entertaining match-up, with the added drama of elimination for the losing squad and advancement in the state play-offs for the winning squad. Dolphin Stadium will definitely be the place to be Tuesday night.
