Softball Wins First District Title in Seven Years
The Gulf Breeze Dolphin softball team beat the host West Florida Tech Jaguars 2-0 to win their first district title in nearly a decade. The Jaguars were previously unbeaten in district play, and this was Gulf Breeze's first time beating them this season. After dismantling Choctaw in the first round of the district tournament, the Dolphins were on a much-anticipated collision course with the powerful Jaguars. Elle Branton kept the West Florida bats in check with a masterful 7 inning, complete game shut-out. The Dolphins faced stellar pitching as well, and only managed 3 hits throughout the game. They would make them count, however and get clutch, timely hitting from senior Reagan Raley in the top of the sixth inning, driving in both runs with her only hit.
