The Gulf Breeze High School cross country team left school on Wednesday, Oct 23 to go to Tallahassee Florida for their big districts meet that was the next day. The team did phenomenal. Three girls and two boys from Gulf Breeze’s team made top 30 and overall, the girls’ team placed seventh and the boys’ team placed eighth.
The team took eight girls and eight boys to the meet. The course was a difficult one with a few Tallahassee hills. The girls still had a great finish. From Gulf Breeze, Delaney Williams finished in 24 place with a personal best of 21:50, Mira Helms finished 22 with a 21:47, and Elisa Williamson finished 13 with a personal best of 21:19. The girls’ team placed seventh so the team will continue on to regionals and seven girls will run.
It was also a great race for the boys’ team who had two finishers in the top thirty. Finn Youberg was ninth place with a 16:58, and Cade Seeber finished seventh with a 16:41. The boys will also be continuing to regionals since the place eighth overall. Seven boys will run for them as well.
Both teams and the coaches are excited to continue to regionals and to see how well everyone will do. Coach Chelsea Adams said after the races, “All runners did an incredible job during the district race. Setting a good tone to head into Regional meet in Lake City.”
