Baseball Sweeps PHS, Keeps Pace Atop District
The GBHS baseball team won its district series against Pensacola High Thursday and Friday night to keep the pace ahead of the West Florida Jaguars (4-2) atop the district standings. Thursday night's game was at PHS and the Dolphins exploded to win 20-1- in a game that was shortened due to the "10-run rule". Friday's results would be similar, as the struggling Tigers failed to keep up the offensive pace and could not quiet the Dolphin bats. Ultimately, Gulf Breeze proved too much, winning 13-0. Senior USF commit Brandon Schrepf earned the win on the mound Friday, pitching all 5 innings before the game was called. Schrepf also was electric at the plate, going 3-3- which included a triple and multiple RBI. Defensively, the Dolphins were solid- committing no errors and turning a 4-6-3 double play. PHS committed 2 errors in the game. The Dolphins (10-7, 5-1) will next play the Escambia Gators in a non-district match-up Tuesday. Gulf Breeze needs to keep winning to create separation atop the district standings and have a crucial district match-up with Fort Walton Beach Thursday and Friday.
